I think I have seen someone use a small handheld vacuum cleaner.

The danish über-gastro restaurant Noma has or have had ants on the menu, from a google search they served them in creme fraiche (sour cream) (most likely very high quality and a fatty one 38% perhaps?) along with "sticks" made out of malt (caramelized?) and fried moss, yes moss.

I think the ants are alive in this "dish".

I have thought about entomophagy and is not totally turned off by it, but ants seem to be alot of work though. If I ever get to Thailand or Vietnam where I might come across bugs in a market setting I'd be open to trying it out. Ants as well.
