Emmet Louis Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Anyone know where they might be staying yet?
HamdiC Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 Anyone know where they might be staying yet? That was going to be my next question to everyone. If there is a bunch of us all staying at the same time, we could potentially get a good deal renting an apartment/ airb'n'b etc... If anyone is internesting in looking into this with me, send me a PM.
HamdiC Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 Get some burrata too! I will definitely keep my eye out for this! Oh, I take it there will also be some stretching, too.
Geoff Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 How will you travel towards Piacenza? I am arriving on Friday at about 12:00 at Milan Linate airport. Anyone else going towards Piacenza from Milan on Friday the 14th?
Kit_L Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Emmet, there will be a confirmation email coming your way that has accommodation recommendations. P. is a truly lovely little town. I am really pleased that we got the numbers for this workshop to run. And Tosello's is the place for dinner—and I know where that is!
Emmet Louis Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Not sure on travel yet, think me and the Gf might fly into Milan on Wednesday and see the sights and then head over on Friday. Could meet with people and get the train together.
HamdiC Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 I may fly in on Thursday evening to Milan and then also head over on Friday.
thecolin Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 I'll probably be leaving my house near Malpensa airport on saturday morning and heading down to Piacenza by car. If anyone is arriving in either airport (Malpensa or Linate) at that time, I may be able to provide a ride. My plans aren't final so I can't guarantee anything, but if anyone is arriving at that time, let me know and I'll see what I can do.
rsassoon Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Thanks Geoff, for showing me this thread! I'm one more going to the workshop. I arrive in Rome on the 13th and take the train to Piacenza on the 14th in the night. I go back to Rome on the 16th in the night after the workshop. I still didnt check an accomodation but I was thinking exactly about airbnb or maybe couchsurfing.

Have you got any time in mind to head there? Since I am arriving at about noon, I could be headed towards Piacenza at about 1300ish.
Emmet Louis Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Hey, Yeah we're in Milan from Wednesday, going to see the sights etc, then head to Piacenza on friday. Where are you guys staying? We've got one of the reccommended b+b's .

We've got one of the reccommended b+b's . I booked a room at a b&b that I found on booking.com that should be right around the corner of the gym at which the workshop is held.
Emmet Louis Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 For anyone interested we'll be getting the 1320 train to piacenza from Milan central. Drop me a PM if you want to meet and get the same one
Emmet Louis Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Heads up there's a general strike on in milan/Italy tomorrow all public transport is running on a disrupted schedule.
oliviaa Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Good luck everyone, I wish I was there! When we were in Germany last month the train drivers were on strike, but almost every train ran regardless: perhaps it will be the same in Italy tomorrow, but then again ...
Emmet Louis Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 From what I can find out there's guaranteed service between 6-9am and 1800-2100 with the others set for disruption or not running.
thecolin Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 So it looks like there will be disrupted service, but not a complete shut down of the trains. The express trains (Le Frecce) will be running with regular service. Regional trains will have disrupted service with guaranteed 'essential service' (it's not clear what is being defined as essential...) from 6:00 to 9:00 and 18:00 to 21:00. You're just going to have to try your luck. Public transport in Milan will also have disrupted service, but the Metro should be running normally until 18:00 (but no guarantees!).
