Anyone know where they might be staying yet?

That was going to be my next question to everyone. If there is a bunch of us all staying at the same time, we could potentially get a good deal renting an apartment/ airb'n'b etc...

If anyone is internesting in looking into this with me, send me a PM.

How will you travel towards Piacenza? I am arriving on Friday at about 12:00 at Milan Linate airport. Anyone else going towards Piacenza from Milan on Friday the 14th?

Emmet, there will be a confirmation email coming your way that has accommodation recommendations. P. is a truly lovely little town. I am really pleased that we got the numbers for this workshop to run. And Tosello's is the place for dinner—and I know where that is!

I'll probably be leaving my house near Malpensa airport on saturday morning and heading down to Piacenza by car. If anyone is arriving in either airport (Malpensa or Linate) at that time, I may be able to provide a ride. My plans aren't final so I can't guarantee anything, but if anyone is arriving at that time, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks Geoff, for showing me this thread!

I'm one more going to the workshop. I arrive in Rome on the 13th and take the train to Piacenza on the 14th in the night. I go back to Rome on the 16th in the night after the workshop.

I still didnt check an accomodation but I was thinking exactly about airbnb or maybe couchsurfing.

Not sure on travel yet, think me and the Gf might fly into Milan on Wednesday and see the sights and then head over on Friday. Could meet with people and get the train together.

I may fly in on Thursday evening to Milan and then also head over on Friday.

Are you still aiming at going to Piacenza from Milan on Friday? Have you got any time in mind to head there? Since I am arriving at about noon, I could be headed towards Piacenza at about 1300ish.

Hey,

Yeah we're in Milan from Wednesday, going to see the sights etc, then head to Piacenza on friday. Where are you guys staying? We've got one of the reccommended b+b's .

I booked a room at a b&b that I found on booking.com that should be right around the corner of the gym at which the workshop is held.

Good luck everyone, I wish I was there! When we were in Germany last month the train drivers were on strike, but almost every train ran regardless: perhaps it will be the same in Italy tomorrow, but then again ...

So it looks like there will be disrupted service, but not a complete shut down of the trains.

The express trains (Le Frecce) will be running with regular service. Regional trains will have disrupted service with guaranteed 'essential service' (it's not clear what is being defined as essential...) from 6:00 to 9:00 and 18:00 to 21:00. You're just going to have to try your luck.

Public transport in Milan will also have disrupted service, but the Metro should be running normally until 18:00 (but no guarantees!).
