Matthieu Jeandel Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Hello Start today with the lesson 1 and the "Daily five + 2". Notice that not all have indication about C-R, does the others just to be maintain and not use C - R? If it's just holding for the indicated breath, do I have 1, 2, 3 round? Thank you Matt.
Cherie Seeto Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Hello Matt, For me the Daily Five instructions are a guideline for where to begin your practice of becoming conscious and aware of how the body is feeling and functioning. My clients have the same questions in the beginning until a shift in their experience of being in their bodies allows them to truly listen to what is required in that moment. What does your body tell you? You may find it helpful to do the exercises slowly, then halve the pace on the second repetition, then halve the pace again on the third round. Micro movements and the contract-relax technique are used to further layer up the exploration called interoception. If anything don't be too hasty to come out of the exercise. Soft, slow and steady stretching is nourishing and enjoyable. Cherie Seeto, senior teacher/practitioner of Stretch Therapy in Sydney
Matthieu Jeandel Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Hello Thank you for your answer. My body told me it's easier to do C-R in some move to another so micro-movement are easier (like cobra I feel some difficulties to do C-R alone, without partner assist or weight). For this exercices 3 rounds feel good for me, first one to feel the position and the capacities of the day, second one to begin the stretch and the third one to go a little bit more in the stretch. It was my first day in the routine of Daily Five, wait the end of the week to feel more confortable with the details describe on the book to focus on my own feeling. One more question about this, with your experience is that better to do Daily Five in the morning, during the day, before to sleep? Or just when it's easier to do it? Matt.
Cherie Seeto Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Hello Matt, My preference is towards the end of the day. After a period of practice it won't necessarily be the Daily Five, it will be instinctual to move for comfort. You have really answered your own question there. When ever you feel you can move, stretch and unwind like a cat is always the best time. Enjoy! Cherie
