Hello all,

I will let our editor tell the tale of 'behind the scenes'; all I will say is that it has been a heroic effort on the eve of his departure from Turkey to the US, including power outages...

I want to do some last-minute checking, but all the episodes (16) of Master the squat and hip mobility are all up on Vimeo on Demand, but not yet visible to the world. After checking a few details tomorrow, we will go live on Wednesday morning. The Vimeo on Demand ("VOD") language, following TV, talks about a series (for us, this is the program "Master the squat and hip mobility"); and individual "episodes" (exercises or groups of exercises).

The full program will be $5 for the first 24 hours: please note that this price is for Forum members only, and my way of thanking you all for your suggestions—please tell your friends about the program after Thursday! From Thursday, the price will be $10 for the full program (MH convinced me to abandon the "$9.99 means it feels less than $10!" strategy, BTW).

After Thursday, I will very much appreciate you telling the whole world about this program, assuming you like it, of course.

About half the episodes are single exercises; the rest comprise two or more exercises, grouped by function. So if someone is looking for ankle/calf exercises, they can just buy this group (there are four exercises in this episode). There are 29 exercises in all in the program.

And on another thread (hidden at present), you will find the PDF we will use for referencing and talking about this program. That thread is where I want all discussion of programming and execution (form, intensity, etc.) to happen, please.

Fantastic news!

Will the remaining programs be released equidistant or in a big chunk?

Looking forward to Wednesday.

regards,

Frederik

I think the editor is a bit shell-shocked; the last 48 hours were—hairy, to say the least: the final four eps were output from Final Cut en route to the airport...

All I can say is that we have logged all the footage, and we will be cutting the programs as soon as we can. I have a very heavy work/travel/teaching schedule from August, and we will be going as fast as we can. Master the Pancake next in line.

This is very exciting. It almost feels worse now, though, because there is a known date, and it isn't today. (c:

For now, I will simply have to pretend I still haven't learned when it is coming out.

So excited!

I have yet not understood how exactly the programs will work. Is it a serious of exercises leading from beginner to a full squat? I personally do not have many problems with a regular squat, however my GF could use some exercises that aren't to advanced.

This is what the thread with the PDF will be all about: we will talk there about the best way to use this material.

The short story is: work your way through all 29 exercises (in total, it's about 1.5 hours, from memory), and pay attention to the ones that you find hard, or tricky, or which produce new sensations in the body. These are the ones you need to concentrate on, and we will get to that in detail > Wednesday (like how often, etc.).

The exercises begin at the beginning; ad the early ones will be easy for anyone who's been doing GST for a while. But the easy ones (I should say, 'the ones that feel easy for you' are important too, because they are easy, you can do them well, and as such are excellent limbering or warm-up movements.

What most people don't realise is that there is gold in exercises or movement patterns that you can do well: if you can do them, you can refine them—refinement is embodiment.

So, to Joachim, a certain number of these will be perfect for your GF; others will be great for you. Everyone will be able to do some, or even many of these, and that's where you start.

Kit, a celebration is in order in the form of Wednesday night training. I think bendy Dave is back too

If I can walk: I made up some new SLS exercises w/KB today... if I can walk, I'd love to!

Thanks a lot Kit, I can't wait:)

When naming the program "squat" are we talking a regular hip width squat, or should it also be able to bring me the ability to master a squat with feet together, as preparation for pistols etc.?:)

Nice. I'm more excited for the other ones, as squat is the one movement I'm actually reasonably flexible in :). One question, will this also cover hip internal rotation flexibility?

Posted

Definitely all widths for the squat, and one of MH's exercises is excellent prep for the SLS, too.

Actually, the KB exercises I was playing with yesterday (which I have not seen before but no doubt exists somewhere) is two of the best glute-strengthening and activating exercises I have ever used, especially when used with speed skater squats (SSS). I will film these (these are not in the MTS program).

Basically you hold the KB in a goblet squat bottom-up grip, and put one foot directly behind the other, flat on the floor. As you sink into the full bottom position, the back foot's heel comes up; this is one version. The second version starts with the instep and toes of the back leg's foot touching the floor; as you sink, you end up kneeling on this leg as the other one does all the work. The balance is easier in both these versions than the SLS, but the patterning is very similar.
