Sisyphus Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I went through most of this yesterday during screen breaks at work to get a feel for it - I wasn't aware of pushing too hard at any stage (I didn't know where it was going!) but today my left HF are screaming with DOMS which I'm putting down to boxing the compass. I never get DOMS from stretching! I can see already that this is going to help me significantly.
dgolab Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I did the whole program today and first of all I have to say the quality is really excellent. And here are my feeling when it comes to the actual exercises: E1A-E1C are excellent - I hate stretching calves but doing them in this sequence made me actually feel very good. E2 - standing piriformis - took me a while to get it right. Nice stretch (different from the others) for my right (tighter) side, couldn't feel it at all on my looser side no matter how hard I've tried. E3-E5 - nothing new for me, all good exercises that I was already doing. E6 - this is excellent. Great as a warm-up for similar sequence when I straighten the working leg. E7 - this for me feels very similar to tailor pose, have to explore it a bit more to feel the difference E8 - well my full squat felt really good at the end of the session, sumo squat definitely needs some more work L1 - well, I definitely include this in my sessions L2A-L2C - all are pure gold, using a dowel really showed my how tight bottom of my calves is L3 - initial position of this gave my really good stretch - I never did it before but I definitely will L4 - I often do this as a warm-up, so nothing new here L5-L6 - I love doing cossack and new variations are really nice L7 - nothing new, was doing it in exactly the same way, good to have it confirmed it's the right way L8 - those were very intense on the inside of my foot (did them on wooden floor - will try something softer next time), nice one - I think it might be a good combination to do it together with L2B sequence Overall I'm really impressed with the program and can't wait for the rest of them
Richard Hamilton Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 The floor calf stretches seem to be a good warm up for the elevated ones and I tried some pulses up and down while in that position which really makes a difference to the stretch. My calf muscles are a little sore today but it's mostly adductors and glutes/piriformis I'm feeling it in today. I'm really looking forward to running through it all again
Adurst Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I just want to say... Lovely use of depth of field and framing
Kit_L Posted June 19, 2014 Author Posted June 19, 2014 Hello everyone; thank you for all the comments and feedback: we are not going to get rich on these, but the feedback suggests at least that we are going in the right direction! We have reverted to the actual price ($10); I will appreciate any help you can give in publicising this series on FB or wherever you are connected to. I will be publicising on both FB Pages, but our reach is limited. And @ Adam: I have been asked to write a video primer for a website called "GetDPI.com"; it's populated by working pro photographers, many of whom are making (or trying to make) the transition to shooting video as well, as their market changes. I used to be a TV director (for the ABC); my speciality was live TV; 360 programs) and I have made six documentaries, including one starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, believe it or not, so this is not exactly my 'debut' at this kind of thing. Nonetheless, the technical details of the shoot were daunting as a director/performer, and so I will use this experience as the basis for the GetDPI article. I will link it here when done. The new µ4/3rds cameras, with the right prime lenses, let anyone make decent video with a very small expenditure, if they know what they are doing (and have a story to tell). And we shot everything at 720p, too. More on that later. Folks, whatever help you can give in promoting these programs, please do, and please review them, too, on Vimeo; it will be much appreciated, and it all helps. I am working on MTPan today, too.
Adurst Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 @Kit Andrew mentioned this one day (ABC Director)...and looked puzzled at me and said "it's all on his blog". I know this is massively off-topic...but photography is a passionate hobby...and almost a career. In high school was offered a small scholarship to an art collage for photography and sculpture. Turned it down to go to uni....in retrospect a good decision...I love photography as a hobby...think a career would ruin it for me. I've recently (4 weeks ago) given up on my large SLR and bought a 4/3rds...mostly because the latest generation are equal or better then my last camera for image quality. And the size mean I'm more likely to take it with me and take pictures of my kids. I've not done much video, besides stop motion, time lapse and some tilt shift. But looking at making a dolly and "playing" Looking forward to the article.
Kit_L Posted June 19, 2014 Author Posted June 19, 2014 @ Adam (I agree, massively OT, but fascinating!)l I have been a commercial photographer all the time I have been working, too; John Deere was my last big client; I only stopped this commercial work this year. If you go to the BodyPress site you can see some samples of this (the non-copyrighted work, that is). Email me about which 4/3rds camera you got. I know the lens lineup intimately. And if the intern thing happens... think of the programs we can make!
MT Nordic Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Interesting stuff over on the GB forums today. M1 (movement course) supposed to release tomorrow, now postponed until who knows when for more urgent programs. My bet is panic re Kit's programs has taken hold and they're expediting their stretch program. Big mistake in my mind. They should leave the stretch program to kit and focus on what they do best on the gymnastics side of things. It's going to be tough to top this stuff, and it will cost 10 x as much.
Kit_L Posted June 20, 2014 Author Posted June 20, 2014 Interesting indeed. I turned myself inside out to work with Coach, actually; and I had no idea of the timing of M1, either (recall, I am banned from even viewing the GB forums). MH and Dave Wardman have plans for movement programs that I know from personal experience will be outstanding; they already know what they want to shoot and we have that whole pipeline proofed. There's no contest here, either: I will be buying Coach's stretching programs when they come out; I am always happy to learn, and will do so from anyone.
MT Nordic Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I agree with you there. You have a refreshing attitude.
Sol Amarpreet Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Hi all. I made this thread at Reddit about ST for GST Hip Mobility module. Drop some reviews here so others can appreciate Kit's work http://redd.it/28mcfi

I'm half temped to make a post in there about Kit's programs and GMB's new programs. Give all those poor GBs an outlet for the money in their pocket and a different perspective. But I'd might get banned and loose my access. Like kit...I'll purchase their programs, as I have foundations, handstand, GMBs entire suite, kits books and now master's programs...all to go along with various coaching I seek out both local and afield. All in the quest to learn and improve. There is no one way....but there is your way, your path...and you must seek to find it and at times trailblaze till you cross another established path!
Riku Calderón Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 This was awesome. Now i have tested everything. Now I need a program. Im sorry to say that im the type of guy who needs a coach to say what to do and when to do it. So what is our simpe plan? Do we separate the Es and Ls to separate training scedule? Can someone who has better understanding give a start with this solution? Thanks. I really need your help.

So don't think of this as a negative...but a positive that you are seeking to improve yourself and desire to use the best knowledge and advice. That said Kit's recommendations are: -Limbering (L in the program) elements as often as possible...ideally everyday for best results. - Stretching elements - exposing new range (E in the program) once every 4-7 days That said a few of the more advanced stretchers here are doing pretty full-on stretches everyday to great effect...but I did say advanced in that they have some history with stretching and good awareness of their body. So try and do the Limbering movements every day or every other day. And try to do each E element once per week...divide it up or stack them into one or two sessions. Personally...I find the longer I stretch in a session the better the results...after 20mins the stretches are more effective for me...something about getting in the zone and connecting with my body. This time is getting shorter with time.
Tris Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I'm the same as Adam, lots of things I would say on GB.com but I don't because I want to keep access. Where did they say M1 is being delayed? Why GB need to make such a massive meal out of things and shroud themselves in secrecy - I don't understand. Their products are a series of 10 second videos, 3 pics and about 20 words of text. Coach has said they already have the vids shot and they already have a template for the content. The content and formatting is ready to go, and any 20-something could have the entire handstand, rings, movement, stretch and Hungarian content up in the next 24 hours. If they're trying to time releases from a marketing perspective that's fine. But why not just say that? Very happy with the progressions, though.
mtruelove Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Just to echo Tris; pretty much my thoughts exactly. I love the programming in F/H and it has lead to me making excellent progress, but there's not a great deal of content. I'm going to give S1 a miss when it's released.
Kit_L Posted June 20, 2014 Author Posted June 20, 2014 F%^k that made me laugh (Tris and mtrulove). Spread the word by any means possible that does not get you banned there. Re. programming (this is the secret): do something (anything!) every day. Don't tell anyone.
JoachimG Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I have not bought your previous books Kit, however I was wondering if anyone might care to elaborate on what is meant by "limbering" is it simply "light" stretching within CR etc.?
Sol Amarpreet Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Well atleast one person from Reddit just bought after seeing the post I put above. Another user suggest me to make another thread in the flexibility section so I made there as well. Here's the link: http://redd.it/28mo2e
Kit_L Posted June 20, 2014 Author Posted June 20, 2014 Joachim, limbering is an earlier version of mobility: movement at the end of the ranges of movement (and within those ranges too, so not always as the ends). Mobility is the new limbering. No contractions, and few held positions. And no rules, so break these if you feel like it. Limbering is moving, just not in people's usual ROMs. We don't want "normal". Another way of thinking about this: limbering at one end of the movement spectrum; hard-core C-R stretching at the other.
FedericoC Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 exemplary attitude, which I totally support. Does anyone have a clue about the following? I loaded all the videos from the program on my iPod. However, when I click play the iPod reboots and I'm not able to see them at all. In contrast, I can perfectly follow all the "How to sit for meditation" program (I did indeed yesterday evening), which I loaded in the same way and in the same folder. Let me know, thanks in advance.
mtruelove Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I've also started another thread on /r/fitness. It's a much larger sub but I'm unsure of there rules about posting pay for programs. http://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness/comments/28mpjl/master_the_squat_and_hip_mobility/ Hopefully we can bring some traffic your way.
Adurst Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Coach has said they already have the vids shot and they already have a template for the content. He said this last sept or oct...it was already on the forum when I joined the end of November.
