Louise Raisin
Hi Everyone Well as a surprise to me I have developed the classic pain symptoms for tennis elbow this week in particular flexing and extening fingers/hand with straight arm, typing, lifting, etc. What a nuisance this is, it is my left arm and I am right handed. I am very familiar with the stretch as Andre had the same problem some years ago and yes Kit the stretch does give relief. Doug (at the Adv P&F @Hughes) suggested negative lifts of the hand wrist under load helped him so will be giving that a try. Also booking in to my chinese doctor, Feng Yuan, for acupuncture. What has worked for you and your clients? All comments and suggestions appreciated. thanks Louise
Kit_L
Hello Louise, Sorry to hear this. Do you know what seems to have caused this? Re. stretching: refer back to the whole wrist and hand sequence; there is a YT video of this here: One of the extension/rotation combinations should target the right spot. And perhaps you could ask Kit Tong to have a look/feel/press on it for you, too, when next you see here.
Louise Raisin
Thanks Kit As for cause, not sure, other than the everyday stuff and typing, I do a lot of stuff with my hands/arm, piano, knitting, crochet, swimming but nothing I have really increased in intensity lately. I have been doing the hand/arm stretches and Markus showed me another on Sunday. I will try the stretches in the video, I watched it a few months ago ironically, thanks for the link. Back of hand to floor with internal rotation gets the spot on the elbow and the chain I can feel all the way to the neck. Feng treated the hand, arm and neck with acupuncture, seemed to help, I am seeing him again tomorrow. Tried swimming on Sunday and found freestyle with fins no problem, backstoke arm bend a little more pain inducing as I am pushing the water away at that point. The extensor strength with the rubber band is helpful. Good excuse to catch up with Kit Tong. Thanks Louise
