Kit_L Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Hello all, As some of you know, I have just returned from a silent retreat co-presented by myself and Patrick Kearney, run in the wonderful Govinda Valley Retreat Centre; I did the movement, lying relaxation, and alignment sessions; Patrick did the dharma and practise sessions talks. I recorded all my lying meditation sessions, and I have uploaded them onto the server. They are labelled Monday-Saturday. One of them, Wed23/4, is a simple counting exercise, so apart from those instructions and some relaxation cues, is largely silent, so unless you specifically want this practise, skip Wednesday. These are .mp3 files, so will download directly into iTunes or on to any MP3 player; you only need to save the files onto your desktop and load into whatever listening device you use. Here they are: Monday (the first one, and the most basic, HERE. I have included a "Fast_generic_ relaxation_18'" audio HERE; this was recorded a few weeks before. Tuesday (the second in the series; slightly different visualisations) HERE. Wednesday (the two approaches to counting practise) HERE. Thursday, the Vedana (focussing on feelings and emotions) HERE. Friday, a number of new visualisations, HERE. Saturday's one, focussing on a different form of the Sampajanna (Clear Understanding") practises, part of the relaxation script HERE. Please enjoy, and I will appreciate hearing from you about your experiences with them, kl 1
AndeL Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Kit, the counting one (Wednesday) was really interesting, very nice.
dpevoav Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 All downloaded, lets see if they help me relax... Will post back my experiences.
zenwoof Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 These are gold, thank you Kit. I'm new to lying relaxation, only have tried a few times so far. Will update once I have more data/experience to reflect on, but I have one question - when on that edge between wakefulness and sleep, do you regularly get closed eye visuals (CEV)? Or should I not be practicing lying relaxation at sleep time...
Kit_L Posted November 25, 2015 Author Posted November 25, 2015 @ zenwoof: no 'CEVs' for me. If they start, try focussing ever more closely on the sensations of your breathing (as in smaller and smaller physical locations, like just one area of both nostrils, not the whole shebang), until that's all there is—likely the CEVs will float away. Relaxing even more can help too.
spencer_c Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Kit, Thanks for uploading this. I've been curious about your lying meditation practices since Dave and yourself mentioned them. I thought it was interesting that you mentioned one time you were doing your practice and thought someone was snoring in the room only to realize it was yourself. Do you think these coincide with sung breath?
zenwoof Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 @Kit, thank you. Grateful for you sharing these recordings and for raising awareness that this practice even exists. Two weeks into my practice and loving it; excited to keep it up as a habit and see where it takes me. I thought it was interesting that you mentioned one time you were doing your practice and thought someone was snoring in the room only to realize it was yourself. This happened to me!
