Gareth O Connor Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 I've a tendency to bend forward whilst squatting. How do I learn to squat upright?.What part of the body might be weak causing this?
Kit_L Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 It's not any weakness, necessarily—it's a lack of ankle flexibility. If the knees can't move forward for enough the body's only option is to bend forward from the hips in order to move your centre of gravity far enough forward to maintain your balance. Search here on squat form and you will see that there are many discussions about this. Proportion can play a crucial role as well. A relatively long trunk and short legs usually allows a more upright squat position.
