Emmet Louis Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 People have also told me I have the face for podcasting too. We use anchor to distribute our casts as it can do transfer to most services as well as stats and a few other things like letting people leave voice messages for us. Spotify doesn't play ads during podcasts so its good there. I'm not sure of the other platforms like apple but assume its the same. 1 2
Jason Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Hi Everyone, I put together this excel file with as many scripts as I could find in these threads. I'm sure some are missing but there's still a lot in here. What I really needed was a list I could sort by length for when I have limited time I have some listed as "N" (no) which is usually based on the amount of background noise (I know, I know, it's good practice to try and relax with background noise but in one case it was a low battery chirp from a smoke detector - my kryptonite!!). Some are listed as Y or YY, where YY is YESYES, meaning I really liked it. YMMV. ST_Relaxation_Scripts.xlsx 1 1

Can you tell me which one this was? I have high frequency hearing loss, so probably will not have heard it! Sincere thanks for doing this.
Jason Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 @Kit_L, I’ll go through them this weekend and report back. I hope I didn’t come across as too negative or unappreciative. I’m grateful that you’ve made these available to everyone, and I’ve used them A LOT. I’ve found it helpful to notate which ones I don’t want to return to so I’m not guessing which one to listen to. I should also point out that I’ve only listened to about half so far. Choosing mainly based on length of the script.

I am grateful when anyone helps or contributes to what we are all doing. And I can tell you from long personal experience that occasionally doing one of the longer practices will yield gold. I am fully aware of the mindset which says, "I don't have time to do a long practice today"; I'll do a short one", but that is just a thought after all. And what all of the work that we're doing is in service of is learning how the thoughts that we have are not an accurate mapping of reality. The longer practices help to see more clearly. Thank you for doing this.

Just a suggestion: If you have a Google account, you can import this to Google Sheets and make it publicly viewable (or editable, if you like). Not everyone has Excel, so this will make the document much more accessible. Or if you'd like I can do it for you. If @Kit_L is interested, perhaps we can make the list of relaxation audios on the website a bit more user-friendly, with durations, or possibly even a sort/search function. 1 1
Jason Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 @Nathan, great suggestion. Can you check to see if this works for you? https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vQmX9mpYzLsbSBthPbOsjbK3U5F2FioMNS8HYFANzz8X8lVdnk0iMH9iqIAZw-RRQ/pubhtml

I have wanted to do this for years, but it will mean I have to listen to each of the recordings and listen to myself... not my favourite thing! Let me start with the Praxis recording, and I will note the overall intention and the comprising elements, as well as the duration. It will take a while, but it definitely needs doing. I will start today. @Nathan—let's use this thread to store this information, too, while we assemble this and then we can decide what form of it can go back to the ST site. Thanks for this. 1
Kit_L Posted December 14, 2024 Author Posted December 14, 2024 So, the list begins (unformatted): Praxis Retreat: “Working with Anger” (17:13) meditation can be done in any position three sighs no controlling; feel the breathing right palm faces ceiling; slow closing of the fingers and thumb once fist is made, feel where you felt angry last time relaxing is letting go feel the R arm/hand resting on the floor feel body moulding to floor back to movements we call breathing feeling hot/cold, wet/dry re. breathing sensations move awareness to L heel meeting points between body and floor moving the body slowly, to increase feeling move awareness to face and head holding small second attention on tummy feel the floor holding the body watching yourself from above end sequence Relevant Posts: “Taking care”, “mindfulness”, and “being angry, for two or three heartbeats” Where does tension come from? 1
Kit_L Posted December 14, 2024 Author Posted December 14, 2024 Note re. above post: I would like to indent the elements (what is being done or being pointed to in the recordings) to make that clearer, but can't see how to do this without adding bullets or numbers.

I edited your post and added a code block to indent. If this is what you meant, you should be able to edit and see what it looks like there! 1
Gareth O Connor Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Being angry for two or three heartbeats that's good
Kit_L Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 Setting that goal has helped me greatly.
SiW Posted January 14 Posted January 14 I won’t take up too much space on this vital thread, other than to say thank you @Jason for re-organising this list. (Thanks you also and primarily to @Kit_L for the generosity in recording and sharing in the first place). I have used these recordings on and off for a couple of years. I need to commit to the three lunar cycles Kit speaks of and really ingrain the habit. Can you also advise, can these files be downloaded to my phone to play offline too? This is something that I have wanted for a while. Cheers Simon 2

This is something that I have wanted for a while. Yes, they can. They are ordinary MP3 files. How you get them onto your phone will depend on your model, technological prowess, etc. If nothing else, you can play them in your mobile browser, but downloading them would be preferred, since that will save bandwidth (which is good not only for Kit, but for you and the environment). If you are not sure how to download files to your phone, or play them, perhaps it would be easiest to install VLC media player, which is free and available for all devices. VLC can open and save the MP3s for you. Let us know if you need help figuring it out. 2
SiW Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Thanks Nathan. Will look into it and let you know if help required. 1

Though I work in tech, I'm probably the last person to suggest building an (mobile) app. But sometimes, I have the thought that having an app for ST could expand its reach and just be overall more convenient if the app contained all the LRP (lying relaxation practice) scripts and easy way to navigate/view the stretching follow along. Personally, I don't necessarily "need it" (along with many other tech savvy people on the forum) but for others, can see benefit. 1
