It is all because the pancake program and the bent cossack advice that you gave me :)

Can't wait, I have so many questions haha :)

Today I did a little bit of box combinations on pads. On one left hook I felt sharp pain somewhere around my middle delt.

I tried a few stretches from master the shoulder mobility program, but can't find the right one. When I do  Wall Internal Rotator Cuff (subscapularis) I think the pain increases, someone with similar experience?

there is a bit of release when I do supine pec/shoulder stretch and supraspinatus stretch with partner.

Hello Nick,

Try the wall biceps stretch (Olivia is demoing, from memory); I developed this on years ago after hurting the long head of biceps tendon, working the heavy bag with hooks when I was a keen amateur boxer. The pain I was experiencing at the time varied from intense to a dull ache. Finding the precise angle to work is the task.

The previous shoulder pain gone away for about 2 days. The most helpful was IR/ER with stick from shoulder program. But I couldn't find anyone stretch for the exactly wanted place.

I didn't do a lot of hard stretches. In fact finding a partner for my workout is always a problem. But I will shoot all my basic position (pike, pancake, shoulder flexion/extension, bridge, sq) tomorrow, just before the seminar in London. I will have a few days there before Saturday but don't know whether will have an opportunity to train. For a whole month my mind was engage totally with the fact that I will meet Kit.

On the other hand this week, I did my version of Ido's Movement Camp. IMHO it was ok. I did about a 5 hours on lectures and about 8 workouts for 3 days. We was near to one of Bulgarian biggest summer resorts, but away from the party type people. I really can't belief that such a place exist in Bulgaria. There are a few halls (including fully equip gymnastics gym),an airport, private beach (about 2km long), new buildings and furniture, great kitchen (in term of paleo-ish + great local desserts), and very mixture between nature and industrial world. Here are a few pictures- https://www.facebook.com/Kuchedav/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1158550430882687 .

We did a few GST training and several partner stretches. All participants really liked it. Try to do a little work for the more neglected body parts like eyes, hands, feets. I found that my shoulders need way more flexion ROM. And also try to identify at least one weakness for everyone. It was really fun, especially night swimming part. Learn so more about me.

I hit really hard one wooden board and now I can't flex my right thumb. But start some light movement right away and it improves fast. Hope will be ok for Into the Stretch. Also decide to take rest from heavy weight in term of getting all the benefits from the seminar.

Just want to share my thoughts about ST seminars, that I was so far. I’m some kind of personal trainer with wide range of client’s profile. I work with sedentary people, different kind of pathology and injuries, professional athletes, weight loss clients, strength orientated people- in term of both barbell and gymnastics point of view. I have about 8 years of professional practice and nearly 9000PT session.

Evaluating my experience at those two seminars I think about 2 things- the methodology and the lectors.

“Stretch therapy” in my opinion is the best system for working with non-gifted people. Every task and problem are dissected at the right amount of information, exercises, practice and stretches so that you really can do what your body is needed. Here the word “personalized“ doesn’t simple mean different sets and reps protocols. From the start there is a process that makes you much more aware about your weaknesses and using very short-term indicators to assess your progress. Also someone has already thought about all little details that can make your practice successful (like duration, frequency, habit formation and so on). The system is really sophisticated and self-developed and here you can listen to techniques and tools, which the most people don’t know even exist or are using wrong at the first place.

On the other hand, the lectors (Kit and Olivia) are amazing people with huge amount of knowledge, passion and practical and theoretical experience in so many fields. The workshop is far away from just listening to some lecture and doing a few exercise after that. The schedule is organized around the most important topics and after that the whole group navigate what wants to do. They (K & O) try to give you what you need and really don’t have any taboo topics or “come latter for more” attitude. In my perspective every attendance of the seminar (from computer worker to full time mover) found so many interest thing and ways to improve himself/herself.

As a summary: this is a open-source system that is trying to help people to be the best version of themselves.

Cheers

Nick

Now for the more technical parts.

As I said in London several times, I can sit all day long only listening what Kit has to say, no matter the topic. I was familiar with the system to the some degree- I have Master Series and Back pain book and stretch and flexibility, and just found a few details that must be improved. But the atmosphere was great. I wanted to make comment or question to almost every of his sentences, where were whole universe to explore.

I really like that he mentions other benefit from this kind of practice and improving our awareness.

Otherwise it became obvious for me that I wanted everything too fast, which isn’t a surprise :) .

After the seminar I start doing regular relaxation practice, but I will comment this after 3 months.

At IST I felt for the first time lunge hamstring stretch, but didn’t find my mistake anywhere, maybe just working more time on piriformis and so on was helpful.

I did for first time Lunge hip flexor stretch with 2 partner. My hip flexors were really tight and painful right to about 3,4min and after that I felt great release, than Kit come to me and show me the next step, for the next 2 days my body felt really freely and I squat around my working sets (120kg) for 2x5 without any sensation in my low back. I thought I couldn’t feel this without 2 partners but yesterday I almost recreated it only with one partner.

I understand what “go limb” mean, both directly and figuratively :)

The next day I did tailor pose with 2 partner too, and didn’t felt any pain at all, just pulling sensation.

As I expected my back bend is my weakest side. But because of my LBP history haven’t work a lot on it.  In fact I was more scared than anything, but next day the soreness there wasn’t big.

For the straddle elephant walk I was already so tired. But I was thankful for all that I was learned, and didn’t get angry, which isn’t typical for me. i get pissed off for no reason when I can’t do anything. Just accepted that my capacity wasn’t big enough to do everything perfect. We talked with Iva, about this exrc, because my pancake on floor is maybe better that his, but his elephant is much superior to mine. I suspect my hams are tight and afraid from the gravity pulling when I’m standing and she can relax.

One other thing that I take from Kit and the workshop was that there isn’t anything to hurry. In my programs I will give people less exercise and volume, and work more about quality. I have always speak about this, but there I think I could see myself from side and take I new perspective for myself.

We did ribs pulling technique which I think I couldn’t do, my abs aren’t good at relaxing I think.

I wanted to ask Olivia for recommendation for my HS but take indirectly her words and will start to work on elbow extension. In fact I’m not sure what will be my biggest ROI for HS, will just stay for static holds against the wall for now.

Will write for the second seminar again. Have fun all, but now I’m going to do some hanging before work.

I couldn't say it better!

On Friday I did really strong sets (2) pancake pulses with 10kg dumbbell on my upper back. I did 50 reps and 30 reps a think. The goal was untucking my tail. For the next several days my hams felt really vulnerable and I thought that if I try even some light limbering I can pull something. However, at the same evening I did deadlift to 130kg/5 but decide to not go harder. On the 2nd set I felt pain in lower back, so I lower to 110kg/5. My usual work set with the new program (at least 2 months ago) is 155-165kg for 3x5.

All of this push me to think about lower the intensity in the areas where I feel some re-pattering happens (if I can tell it this way). Which for now seems to be hams (especially right ones), hip flexors (I think my tighter ones is now my loser ones) and maybe neck areas ( I couldn't find yet what is the problem there, but suspect my hip flexors also play a role).

My workout today:

- partner hip flexor stretch- try to limb AMAP. I think the quality improves, also the pain decreases a lot.

tuck Front lever raise- 3x5 (+adv. piriformis stretch; +hanging cobra)

elevated planche lean- 3x30" (+running man)

HSPU 10sm block under the head- 3 5 3 (I try to start at HeS and go to HS without help from the wall, it doesn't happen so far) (+reach underneath- here just need a bottle of wine and I think I can release my neck)

chin ups- 3x (5reps + 5"hold at the top of each) (+1a hang with legs on the floor= stretching the lats)

Just wanted to tell everyone who is reading here that I'll be in Berlin at Friday morning, so if someone want to hang around or (better) train together, please writte me, I will probably do the same either way, but I really enjoy the communication and community here.

I will ask Emmet to comment; the space we are using might have suspension points. Otherwise I am sure there are playgrounds everywhere.

The space won't. But we go climbing a lot in Berlin as well as use trees to rig rings or aerial equipment from. Also there's loads of Parkour spots in Berlin. I do some with a friend every now and then and we just cruise around the areas finding places.

We can get some training together. Just let me know preferences and times and I can get a place.

So maybe the best option is to choose a place around the seminar facility and to pick a hour.

I'll be in Berlin around 8 a.m. so I suggest the time doesn't matter for me. Maybe around lunch? I think I have to check-in in the place where I'll be staying around 15.00, but think it isn't a strict rule.

Will be waiting for progress on the topic with high interest :)

Thanks Kit

@Emmet Louis that would be great. If you know a nice climbing gym, me and my girlfriend would like very much to do some bouldering. Nick, what do you think about it? If you have never done it, we can teach you the basics and then play around, it's a lot of fun, trust me :)

If you prefer to do some parkour or just some training, no problem. For us afternoon or morning is the same.

(We'll be there from thursday by the way, so Emmet/@Craig/anyone else if you want to do something on Thursday in the afternoon as well that would be great, since we have already visited the city last year so we have plenty of free time).

The seminar facility is bit away from the nearest boulder halls. We normally go to BerthBlok or the kegel

http://www.bertablock.de/

http://derkegel.de/

Bertablock is epic in terms of routes and scale but might be a bit far out but public transport is good. Its close to where I live and Kit/liv will be staying but either is easy to get to. So let me know which suits and we can arrange an adventure.

@Nick great!

@Emmet if you say Bertablock it's epic, that's our preference; our accomodation is in Friedrichshagen, but we planned on being around the city centre anyway during the day, so for us the distance is not a problem. Nick, what do you think about it?

Also, if Nick has to check in at 3pm we can go there in the morning (say, from 9.30/10) so that then he has enough time to reach his accomodation. If you prefer otherwise, for us it's fine as well :)
