Popular Post Kit_L Posted March 13, 2016 Popular Post Posted March 13, 2016 Hello all, If you know anyone with back pain, please forward this link to them. I have designed this from the ground up to be as user-friendly as I know how. It is meant for absolute beginners. Overcome back pain is suitable for all ages, and any physical condition. All instructions are self contained within the element exercises. There are lots of variations; everyone will be able to do one or more of the forms shown. There is an Introduction, a How best to use this program, 14 exercises, and three follow-along programs once the user knows what to do; about three hours of video in all. http://www.OvercomeBackPain.info Please share far and wide. The Mastery Series was for this group here on the Forums; the Overcome series is for everyone else! I will have Beyond back pain ready in a couple of months, and Bulletproof back after that. TIA, K 5
Nathan Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Thanks Kit. My mom has complained about back pain for as long as I can remember. I look forward to getting this for her!
pam Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 how about overcoming neck & shoulder pain? (my neck & shoulders are perpetually tight & sore) 1
LukeMM Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Just tried the follow along #1 for the first time and: the pain i had for a week in my lower back is close to 0 already. It still feels like it has to heal a bit for the weight lifting, but normal day activity and low intenity movements are much better. Thank you!
Kit_L Posted March 14, 2016 Author Posted March 14, 2016 @ Pam: that is in the works. Can't promise when though. @ Luke: Bulletproof back will be the one for you. I was a very enthusiastic Oly lifter for years (but Jon V. will tell you not a very strong one; I do not have the right proportions and there's the leg length difference...). Anyhow, I am trialling and developing the exercises for BP, and they will be effective for you. In the meantime, limbering up that whole area will only help. 1
Kit_L Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 Liv (Miss O; She of a Thousand Names) and I have re-vamped this program completely and have made it into two new programs; one for Individuals; the other for Teachers and Practitioners. This better reflects the dual nature of our work (and not coincidentally, this dual nature, spanning rehab. to performance, is one of the aspects of our work that make it hard to market simply). All details here: http://www.overcomebackpain.info I think more user-friendly, less expensive, and better targeted. The old program has been "unpublished", in Vimeo's terminology; people who bought it will still have access to it in exactly the same was as before. Comments welcome. 1
Ciaran Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Kit, quick question as I was literally about to purchase the old version. Do both have the same content with the difference being that the 'individual' version is structured as lessons while the practitioner/teacher version is just the exercise videos like you have in the GST series? Sorry, this wasn't super clear on the site.
Nathan Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 @Ciaran: Kit can confirm, but having bought the old version and comparing it with the new now, it appears that the old version has all of the content included in the two new versions with the main difference being that the 3 follow-along programs in the old version have been divided into 6 follow-along programs for the new individual program. 1
Ciaran Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 @Nathan - Thanks mate. Just deciding if I need to buy both or not!
Kit_L Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 @Ciaran: Nathan's comments here are 100% accurate. We did this because we had a lot of feedback from the group we are now calling "Individuals" say that they only wanted the follow-along material, and not the detailed explanations. Speaking more generally now, and as I touched on above, this has always been our "marketing" dilemma: our system spans simple follow-along through to detailed instructions, and rehab. through to performance optimisation. In the program being discussed, the detailed descriptions are for one side of the body only—and this did not suit the "I just want to be told what to do" crowd. And, further, many of these people went on to say that they did not have the time to go through three hours of video, and that the follow-along programs were too long... you can't win. So now we have divided the original material as Nathan describes: six short follow-along programs that do both sides of the body (and in some exercises, one's tight side a second time) and the full 14 exercises which teachers and practitioners will find very helpful is in the Teacher–Practitioner program. Ciaran, I recommend you buy the Teacher–Practitioner program, and I will send you a link for the follow-along programs as a 'thank you"! P.S., I wanted a "buy both programs" option (for the same price as the original $20 USD), but Vimeo can't do that. Grrrr. 2
Cherie Seeto Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 I like the new split. It's a win-win. I feel having the multiple products caters for an expanding audience of wide ranging needs, is the solution. It's never possible to please everyone all the time. The material is so vast it's like an elephant! You can only eat an elephant one bite at a time. It is daunting to try and find 3 hours to watch all of it and then decide "I only need X amount of time out of that whole production." My clients have expressed they too balk at being given too much information in any given situation. In the end a few stretches and a short film clip have been the best way to get the information across. The price is so reasonable it has not been an issue. Keep it short and simple and I will find it much easier to promote the essential parts to my clients. I appreciate the great deal of effort and work that has gone into this evolution. Thank you! 1
SwissDanny Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Happy to promote the new page and versions; the follow along will certainly make it very accesible (price and learning curve) to the new audiences that are targetted. The new overcome page is pretty light on ST "credentials"; unless this is totally intentional I might think of adding a bit more. I did see there was a link to the main page. 1
micross Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Hi everyone...I currently need some advice to a couple questions: I do have a stiff lower back constantly (I am only 32) I frequently get lower back pain (usually on the right or left lower side) and have the flexibility of a block of concrete and rotation is not that free lol. Things I know: I have tight hip flexors, and hamstrings and Extremely tight upper thighs 1) am currently doing Liv's slo-flow routine for pancake and hip flexors once a week each should I continue doing this or should I put these on hold and start doing the overcoming back pain which I just purchased? 2) how many of the follow alongs do people on average choose to follow? I know I shouldn't be stretching if I feel sore but I usually feel better after stretching when I am sore
jonnyw Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Hey @Kit_L Im not sure which program to buy if I get the teachers addition would you send me the follow along programs as a "thank you" as well?
Kit_L Posted May 20, 2017 Author Posted May 20, 2017 @micross: If you have tight hip flexors and tight upper thighs, you must loosen these. You have just described one of the most common causes of low back pain. We have many free programs on my youtube channel (search for hip flexors and quads). Do the back pain program too, as described in the intro. These will work together for you. @jonnyw: buy the follow along program.
jonnyw Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Thanks @Kit_L I unfortunately bought the teachers version as I thought it may give me a little bit more information about why the stretches are are important. I was originally thinking of purchasing the book as i thought it may come with a cd that takes you through the stretches but it didn't say on your website. Are all the stretches on the follow along program in the teachers program? Thanks Jonny
Kit_L Posted May 23, 2017 Author Posted May 23, 2017 @jonnyw: The 'whys' and the 'wherefores' are in the book; as the description on Vimeo says, the videos are just about the 'hows'. And the description on the website about the book says that there is a DVD Update (now a download video) for the exercises, so not sure where you were looking. See here, and click through for a very detailed description of contents. https://stretchtherapy.net/books/
Nmnb Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Hello @Kit_L and everyone. I was not sure if opening a new thread for my question was adequate enough, so I'm going to post my question here instead. It's been a few years since I purchased the whole Mastery series and I am quiet happy with it. But as of late it has come to my mind the need of purchasing a physical reference material about stretching (to keep in my shelf) and I was considering between 'Stretching and Flexibility' or 'Overcome back and neck pain'. So I was wondering if any of you have both of the books and could perhaps give me a brief distinction between 2 books so that I could choose one among the two. I'm afraid if that I buy both of the books there'd be too much information for me absorb among all the resources I already have and would most likely end up not using one of the books to its full potential. What I'm actually looking for is a reference guide with stretches for the whole body, probably more oriented towards beginner practitioners (although not obligatory), so that I could lend the book out to family and friends. From what I've seen in the brief description about both books on the website, it looks like 'Stretching & Flexibility' is more along the lines of a reference guide of what I'm looking for and 'Overcome back and neck pain' is the more popular beginner oriented book from Kit, I could be wrong about this though. Also it looks like 'Overcome neck and back pain' have more written about diagnosis while 'Stretching & Flexibility' is just a series of stretches. I guess my questions could be summarized as: What are the main differences from the 2 books? Is 'S&F' more whole body oriented than 'OBANP'? Any of the books missing any stretches out from the other? Does 'OBANP' have more emphasis on pain diagnosis than 'S&F'?
Kit_L Posted May 24, 2018 Author Posted May 24, 2018 @Nmnb: please read the full descriptions of the contents of both books linked to in the post immediately above yours. I spent a great deal of time writing both the books and their descriptions on the book section on our site, in anticipation of questions like yours. Please read the descriptions of both, and see if your questions are not answered there. If you have any further questions, by all means post again.
Kit_L Posted October 17, 2018 Author Posted October 17, 2018 I have taken this program down for now; we will be re-launching with a free e-book, containing all my latest thinking on this widespread problem. 1

SwissDanny Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 Slightly off topic, but is there an "official" intro to the daily five that I can point people towards (even if it's a "loan" of some of the vimeo material). I talk to quite a few folk (eg some of my early 60s golf buddies) who are scared off by anything more.

Do you mean other than the Daily Five pinned thread? I created a YouTube playlist of the six videos for you as well: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLixA-aVGjkQiwF-xmzdHDL43GJwL_aKq 2 1

And I will send you the e-book to look over, too. @SwissDanny: that thread that @Nathan linked to is the best, apart from the ABSS, program 1. Perhaps if your friends like the pinned thread, they could be pointed to our website, where ABSS is front and centre, and links to the discounted programs will be found there, too. 2
